To be eligible for marriage visa or spouse visa you should be the husband, wife or civil partner of a person, who is present and settled in the UK, initially this visa is generally issued for two year, it is called probation period. After the successful completion of probation period, you may apply for indefinite leave to remain.

Your sponsor should be able to support and accommodate you without recourse to the public funds. During your probation period you can’t access public funds.

A marriage visa will allow you to take up employment in the UK without needing to apply for a work permit and there are no restrictions on the type of work which you may undertake.

For the issuance of visa, applicant and his spouse must have met each other, and intend to live permanently together.
