If you are coming to the United Kingdom as a visitor you are allowed to stay for up to six months.

General Requirements to apply for visitor visa: you must

• only want to visit the United Kingdom for up to six months;
• plan to leave the United Kingdom at the end of your visit;
• have enough money to support and accommodate yourself without working, help from public funds or you will be supported and accommodated by relatives or friends(if someone is sponsoring you from U.K)
  • do not intend to charge members of the public for services provided or goods received;
  • do not intend to study; and
  • can meet the cost of the return or onward journey.

You have to show your personal, social and financial ties in your home country. You need to show evidence of your status/job/occupation/properties etc. your bank statement should be atleast 6 months old.

If you are coming as a tourist it will be expected from you that you have the idea about the places/tourist attraction you plan to visit and where you will be staying in the U.K like some hotel booking/hostel booking etc.

You need not to buy your air ticket in advance.
